Rumors are flying that writers at 90210 are planning to kill off Shannen Doherty’s character, Brenda Walsh by making her die from an illness.
When asked about the rumors Jason Priestley told Access Hollywood,
“This is all news to me but this is fantastic. That is going to be awesome. No they haven’t given me anything yet. I don’t even know if the episode is written yet, but I love all those rumors that is juicy stuff.”
What is he thinking?
If this is true I wonder why the writers would do something so permanent - is it just to get attention or is it a way to keep Shannen Doherty from never returning to the show again?
Some of the best moments from Beverly Hills 90210 were the bitch cat fights between Kelly, Brenda, Emily (Valentine) and Valerie. There are just too many to remember, but here are some of the very best.
Brenda vs. Kelly
Brenda runs into Kelly on a date with…Dylan! Brenda and Dylan had just broken up (for the millionth time) and Brenda had told Dylan he could date other people. Well he did, and it was her best friend Kelly. Brenda was on a date with her Parisian tour guide, Rick - when she stumbled into Kelly and Dylan leaving a dinner that was getting hot and heavy. Everyone exchanged words and the scene ending with Brenda saying “Whatever you say, Kel. I was always thought that if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck… ” Insinuating Kelly was a slut. Winner: Brenda, she was stabbed in the back by Kelly.
Kelly vs. Valerie In Season 9 Kelly discovers a letter Valerie wrote to Brandon trying to convince him not to marry Kelly (Kelly and Brandon called off their marriage prior). In turn Kelly decided to invite the gang over to the beach house for Thanksgiving instead of attending Valerie’s Thanksgiving feast at the Walsh house. After David tells Kelly all the deep, dark secret Valerie has been suffering from she decides to call a truce and have Thanksgiving at the Walsh house with Valerie. Val winds up telling everyone she is packing up her stuff and heading back to Buffalo, leaving the show. Winner: Kelly, she will always have the gang behind her. Val has pissed off just about everyone.
Brenda vs. Emily Valentine
Emily Valentine arrives in Season 2 and attracts the attention of Dylan and Brandon. Dylan and Brenda had just broken up and, like Brenda always says- Dylan can see other people. But of course, when Brenda finds out Emily goes on a date with her twin brother and her ex-boyfriend she rips her a new one in front of everyone at a group BBQ at the Walsh house. Emily responds by saying “When I got to school they should have given me a score card instead of a class schedule, so I can keep track of everyone’s boyfriends.” Winner: Emily Valentine, she stands up to Brenda- who eventually apologizes. Brenda was being a supreme b*tch.
Shannen Doherty dished about her character Brenda Walsh in an interview with Details magazine.
There were moments when I hated Brenda, but there were other moments when I saw vulnerability and greatness in her, and believed her passion for life would make her a great actor but not someone you would necessarily want to hang out with.
I don’t think Brenda was a complete brat. She was fueled by her insecurities: not being from Beverly Hills, not feeling safe in that environment. And then the love of her life was stolen from her. That can really injure a young girls esteem.
As for reprising her role as Brenda on the new 90210:
We all agreed we’d see how it goes. I can pay my mortgage and ride my horses because of those [original 90210] fans, is how I can repay them.
In this week’s upcoming episode E! Online has revealed that Brenda mentions that she regularly speaks to her twin brother Brandon on the phone and gives some details on what he’s doing and where he is living. Also Brenda has a close phone relationship with Dylan, which may cause a rift between Brenda and Kelly.
Apparently in next week’s episode, “Model Behavior”, Dylan phones home to speak to Brenda, and winds up speaking to both Kelly (the mother of his son, Sammy) and Brenda.
I’m guessing Brandon is either in San Fransisco with his past love Emily Valentine, or working in New York or Washington D.C. for a prestigious newspaper or maybe even a College.
It was finally revealed on tonight’s episode on 90210 who the father is to Kelly’s son Sam. It’s Dylan McKay!
There were hints throughout the episode of Kelly being distressed by the missing father of Sam, who she said was on the oter side of th world helping people. That seems typical of Dylan, he was always a loner, running off to Mexico.
Brenda and Kelly were fighting in the episode over Kelly’s reluctance to talk about Sam’s father, in the end it was revealed it’s because Kelly is still in love with Dylan, and very hurt and angry by him leaving their son.
This doesn’t neccessarily mean Luke Perry will be returning to the series. They’ve left the plot open with him being overseas.
Shannen Doherty might not be coming back to 90210 anymore, the actress said “They asked me to do a lot more,” she said, but “I’m in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn’t commit to more than [I did].” Shannen signed on to do the first four episodes, which would mean she has two more episodes left (although she was not in the second episode this past week). The show said Shannen may return later in the season.
I wonder how this will affect the shows ratings. The second episode was the highest-rated show with women 18-34 (2.9/8) and women 12-34 (2.5/7), but it was a significant drop from the ratings of 90210’s premiere.
Back in the day Beverly Hills 90210 used to look pretty cool, but now looking back we see how cheesy the styles were - from hair scrunchies to banana clips, the styles of old 90210 do not transend into the ultra-cool new 90210.
We’ve learned some lessons from the beauty blunders of Beverly Hills 90210 that we vow never to repeat again.
Beauty Blunder #1: Too-Dark Lipstick
How many coats of lipstick did Brenda and Kelly have to apply to get that brown shade? About as many licks as it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.
Beauty Blunder #2: Bad Bangs
Neither thick and blunt enough to be beatnik-y and cool, nor angled and side-swept enough to be breezy and sexy, the girls’ wispy, do-nothing bangs existed in some lame netherworld where style ceased to exist.
Beauty Blunder #3: Crunchy Curls
Andrea had soft, pretty curls. Too bad we never saw them. Too much gel and the occasional unfortunate hair accessory detracted from them.
Beauty Blunder #4: Visible Roots
Even worse than that hideous mermaid prom dress was Donna’s dye job. Those dark brown roots weren’t trashy, they were tragic, considering the girl had enough cash for weekly salon visits.
Shannen Doherty has decided to take new girl Shenae Grimes under her wing ( I just realized they have similar first names, Shannen and Shanae) as the star of the new hit show, 90210.
Shenae plays Annie Dixon, the Brenda Walsh of the new 90210. Annie is new in town and not used to the fast life of the rich and spoiled teens at West Beverly High.
Shannen recently said in an interview,
I feel a weird kinship toward Shenae. Maybe it’s because her character is similar to how Brenda started out. It’s also because Shenae is smart and she knows what she’s doing, but at the same time there’s a vulnerability there, and I want to put my arms around her and protect her.
Although the two characters have a flair for acting (Shenae is taking a part in the high school’s musical, Spring Awakening), there are some differences between Brenda and Annie.
Brenda had this spunky attitude about her. She may have felt insecure, but she was pretty good at maintaining an air of confidence. Annie is a lot more naive. She’s shyer. She’s very gentle in her approach, and she takes things very personally.
Shannen also spoke about the pressures of being on a hit show, and helping Shenae deal with the paparazzi,
The great thing is that she’s smart enough that she’s not going to make the same mistakes I made. But because I made those mistakes, I can help her along the way.
Shenae says she’s learning from Shannen, “about the business and set life and Hollywood and paparazzi and everything that’s so foreign to me.”
1. Brenda moves to London to study theater; Aaron Spelling breathes a sigh of relief.
2. Brenda lands the lead role of Maggie the Cat in the school play amid rumors she slept with renowned director/womanizer Roy Randolph. She also manages to get into a feud with Kelly along the way after Kelly shows promise as an actress and is encouraged to audition for the lead role against Brenda. Whoever wrote this episode is apparently a big fan of the old Bette Davis film, All About Eve.
3. Brenda is arrested after breaking into a research lab at California University and freeing the animals. (”Animal rights now! Animal rights now!”) This moment was probably foreshadowed by years of Brenda bringing home animals and inviting homeless Santa Clauses to dinner at the Walsh house.
4. Brenda elopes to Vegas with her fiance, the wealthy but morally questionable Stuart Carson. Fortunately, she tells Brandon about her plans and he mobilizes the gang to head to Vegas and throw her a bachelorette party — with some fancy reverse psychology thrown in. (Kelly: “The last wedding I went to was Mel and Jackie’s…but I’m sure yours will turn out better than that.”) Brenda and Stuart make it all the way to the Silver Bell Wedding Chapel before calling the whole thing off — moments before Jim and Cindy Walsh show up in a panic.
5. Brenda applies to the University of Minnesota, upsetting her family and friends. She drops out of college shortly after realizing that it’s cold in Minnesota and all the classes she wants are full. Upon returning to Beverly Hills, she tells Jim and Cindy she’s “not meant for college” and spends her days hanging at the Peach Pit and going fishing with Dylan. The girl is just not happy unless she’s causing drama.
6. Brenda hates Dylan and Kelly after they confess to having an affair (”I hate you both. Never talk to me again!”). When Dylan chooses to date Kelly, Brenda torches her old pictures of Dylan, has fantasies about chopping off Kelly’s hair and wears a lot of flannel. Her misery has a soundtrack: R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” becomes the breakup anthem for a generation.
7. Brenda insists she’s not a smoker after picking up the habit in Paris. When she inadvertently spills secrets about her friends to a sleazy tabloid TV show, everyone turns on her and she really needs a cigarette. Brandon, typically, saves the day: “It seems to me if you can get through this without having a cigarette, you can probably get through anything.” There was probably some sort of PSA that ran after this episode that warned about the evils of nicotine.
8. Brenda pretends to be French when her parents send her to Paris for the summer to keep her away from Dylan. She meets a handsome American student who is improbably fooled by her terrible accent (”I just talk like zees, and he sinks I am frohm Pah-ree”). Upon returning to Beverly Hills, she runs into “Reeck” (Rick) in a video store and goes on a date with him…and comes face to face with Dylan and Kelly. The Brenda-Dylan-Kelly love triangle officially begins.
9. Brenda runs off to Mexico for a romantic weekend with Dylan after being forbidden to do so by her father. Kelly and Brandon cover for her by telling Cindy Walsh that Brenda is at the flea market, in the shower, and picking up Thai food. How could this possibly go wrong? Of course, she gets caught at the Mexican border without proper ID and Jim Walsh has to come pick her up. Busted!
10. Brenda loses her virginity at the Spring Dance. (”Do you know why I’m so lucky? How many girls get to have sex for the first time with someone they love?”) Two episodes later, a pregnancy scare prompts Brenda to break things off with Dylan.
ok so 90210 is my fave show and i think that annie and ethan are like perfect for each other and they make like the best couple ever.i also think that naomie is like evil and i like hate her but i think her and ozzy are good together. i luv ryan matthews and it
I've been defending the spin off tooth and nail to the haters but if they do this, I am officially DONE with the show, they have no right to do something so permanent to the original series. It was Daren Star and Aaron Spelling's creation.
Dean can find his own projects. He just does not fit the whole 90210 vibe. I love their reality show, but i am not feeling him on this one
i was watching this show on tuesday and i saw the hottest guy ever
i think his name on the show is ozzy and i was wondering if anyone knew what his real name is !!
OMG 90210 just happens to be my fav!

You write very well.
you gotta be joking, kelly and brandon are soulmates, they had such a great relationship and i always thought dylan and her were just too much drama and not enough love. i mean she chooses brandon over dylan, they were just meant to be together. but in the old 90210 jason priestly left so at
Well i always thought brandon and kelly should have ended up together. not suprised that dylan is the father, he always had issues and perhaps it leaves the possibility of kelly and brandon getting back together as we know he would never have abandoned his kid. i still love the dylan character but i always
