How Jennie Garth Got Into Shape For 90210

September 24, 2008

Jennie Garth had to get into tip-top shape for making her return to the new 90210 - the mother of three
worked out five days a week with husband actor Peter Facinelli to trainer Tony Horton’s P90X DVDs.

Every day is different, one day is really hard yoga. Then arms and shoulders, legs, then karate. His program is made to confuse the muscles so you don’t plateau. I feel better now than I ever have.

I think both Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth look great, but they don’t look like they did in Beverly Hills 90210 - it must be tuff trying to look thin when standing next to 100lb. stars Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup.

Jennie Garth on 90210 ‘Kelly and Dylan Ultimately Belong Together’

September 24, 2008

Jennie Garth talked with People Magazine about her new role on 90210 and about Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) playing the father of her son, Sam.

What did you think when they told you Dylan was going to be the father?
It was very confusing for me because initially the idea of having a son was my idea. I thought it would bring a great amount of depth to my character. Then the question came up, ‘Well, who’s the father?’ And I really hadn’t thought it through that far. So, I was like, Oh, I guess need one of those. It’s gone back and forth: Who and what and when and why? I think they settled on Dylan because Kelly and Dylan had such a passionate relationship in the past. Their relationship was so heated. It was kind of undeniable.

Since you started the new 90210, who did the fans want the father to be?
It’s funny because everyone who was a fan of the original show has an opinion about who Kelly ended up with. I had been so detached from it for so long that I was like, I don’t even know how the show left it off. Had she gone away with Brandon or Dylan? I remember that one time when she said, ‘I choose me,’ which was really great. That was hilarious to me. I’d have to say it’s 50/50–it’s either Brandon or Dylan. Everyone wanted to know who the father was, and you know, I’d say it could be Steve Sanders or it could be Nat from the Peach Pit. You don’t know.

How did the producers decide who the father would be?
I was completely in the dark. They’ve been trying to secure Brandon to come back on the show, or Dylan or Donna. They’re trying to get little cameos from all of the original cast. A lot of it has to do with availability – where, when they would need them. It was never like, we definitely want to make it Dylan because of X,Y and Z. It was kind of like wait and see how it pans out. I didn’t even know for the first three or four episodes who the father was. And then I read it in the script, and I was like, ‘Oh, okay. I guess Dylan’s the dad. Great.’ And it made sense to me because like I said, Kelly and Dylan ultimately do belong together. They have a fiery thing.

How do you think the fans will react to the news?
Either way, whether the son was Brandon’s or Dylan’s, the fans will be excited. Because that’s a direct connection with what they want–the original show. And those characters from the original show are seared into those old hardcore fans’ mind, and to have that connection and to have that tie-in, they’re going to love it. And they’re going to analyze everything that little kid does. He has no idea what he’s gotten himself into.

Any chance Dylan will show up in a cameo?
I would love to work with Luke [Perry] again. I love him dearly. And I also would love to work with Jason [Priestley] again. It’s a great question for the producers. I would be nothing but totally happy to have either of them there.

Do we find out where Dylan is?
You find out a little bit of information, but I don’t think it’s until a little bit later. A later episode. I think there might be more surprises in store.

Any chance of another love triangle?
There are some people that think Kelly and Brandon belong together. It’s interesting, just because the father is Dylan doesn’t mean that’s who Kelly is ultimately going to end up with.

Shannen Doherty Done With 90210?

September 11, 2008

Shannen Doherty might not be coming back to 90210 anymore, the actress said “They asked me to do a lot more,” she said, but “I’m in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn’t commit to more than [I did].” Shannen signed on to do the first four episodes, which would mean she has two more episodes left (although she was not in the second episode this past week). The show said Shannen may return later in the season.

I wonder how this will affect the shows ratings. The second episode was the highest-rated show with women 18-34 (2.9/8) and women 12-34 (2.5/7), but it was a significant drop from the ratings of 90210’s premiere.

Fortunately, Jennie Garth has been asked to stay longer as well and she’s agreed to sign on for five more episodes.

Jennie Garth Talks About Daughter’s Mystery Illness

September 8, 2008

90210’s Jennie Garth is talking for the first time about her daughter’s fight with Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis .

Jennie said, “I had a sick daughter and then my father passed away, so there was a six month period in my life when I didn’t think about my looks or my weight or my body or anything.”

After she appeared on Dancing With The Stars, her five year old daughter, Lola, began suffering from a mystery illness. Because of the stress Jenny stopped eating healthy and exercising, saying she “basically locked in a closet with her for three months.”

“It turned out to be a form of JRA and we treated her and it’s in remission,” says Jennie. “It was tough, but she’s better now.”

I’m glad Jennie and her daughter are doing much better now.

Jennie Garth Talks About Beverly Hills 90210 Drama

September 4, 2008

Jennie Garth recently commented in an interview that starring in Beverly Hills 90210 was sometimes worse than the drama most teens face when they’re in High School.

There were times when being in the show was worse than high school. The environment there was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ There was a lot of tension and unnecessary drama on the set, a certain amount of competition, and a certain, probably, anger about different salaries as the years progressed.

People would find out how much someone was making, and then they’d be angry and want that, or if you got days off in your contract, they’d want that. Nobody was brave enough to step in and set us straight, and have a serious talk with us about it. There was a lot of tension directed from one specific person, and that one specific person had to reap the consequences from that.

Jennie also confessed that because of the trauma and stress from the show she developed agoraphobia, “I started to develop whatever it is when you won’t leave the house. That kind of phobia. I just started to really get a little freaked out by it all. I felt like everyone was always looking at me.”
